A workout tracker with no account
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Open Ischys and start logging. There is no sign-up, no login and no server: your training log is stored on your iPhone and stays there.
Where your workouts live
Every set you log is a row in a SQLite database inside the app on your phone. Ischys has no backend, so it holds no copy of your data, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or crash reporting. It works with no internet connection at all, including the 736-exercise catalogue.
Backups
Because the data is in the app, it is included in your normal device backup: iCloud Backup or a computer backup on iPhone, if you have one turned on. That backup is yours and is handled by Apple, not by Ischys.
You can also make your own copy at any time. In Ischys, open Settings, then Export data, and choose JSON or CSV. The JSON file holds your full workout history and Ischys can read it back in. It does not include routines, body measurements or settings; after an import the app offers to rebuild routines from your sessions.
A new phone, or a lost one
- Restoring a device backup brings your Ischys history back with everything else.
- Without a device backup, import a JSON export to get your workout history back: Settings, then Import workout, then choose the file.
- With neither, the history is gone. Nobody else has a copy, which is the trade-off of keeping it on your device. An occasional export saved somewhere safe covers it.
What you give up
There is no sync between devices. Your log does not appear on a second phone or on the web; it moves when you restore a backup or import an export. If you want your history to follow an account across devices, a cloud-based tracker does that and Ischys does not.
Apple Health is optional
If you turn it on, Ischys saves finished workouts to Apple Health and reads from it: heart rate and active energy during a workout, your latest weight for bodyweight exercises, and waist and body-fat readings for your measurement history. What it reads is kept on your phone and sent nowhere. If you leave it off, the app works the same without it.
Check it yourself
Ischys is open source, so none of this has to be taken on trust: what the source covers. The privacy policy says the same thing in full.
