APPLE WATCH · LIVE ACTIVITY
Log lifts from your wrist and your Lock Screen
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Ischys includes an Apple Watch companion and a Lock Screen Live Activity. Both are part of the free app; there is nothing to unlock.
On your Apple Watch
Start a workout on your iPhone, or start a routine or an empty workout from the Watch, and the two stay in step. From your wrist you can see the current exercise and set, log sets, adjust or skip the rest timer, and end the workout. The Watch shows your live heart rate and active calories during the session.
The Watch app is a companion: the log lives on your iPhone, so the phone needs to be in reach, and the Watch mirrors and controls the workout.
On your Lock Screen
While a workout is running, a Live Activity stays on the Lock Screen. It shows the exercise you are on, the next set, and the rest countdown, with buttons to take 15 seconds off, add 15 seconds, or skip the rest. The timer keeps running when you leave the app, so you can put the phone down between sets and glance at it.

Apple Health
Apple Health is optional. Turned on, Ischys reads your heart rate and active energy during a workout and saves the finished workout to Health. Bodyweight exercises can use your weight from Health so they count toward volume, and waist and body-fat readings can fill in your measurement history.
What it costs
Nothing. Ischys is free and open source under the MIT licence, with no subscription, no paid tier and no ads. It also needs no account: your training log is stored on your phone.
Android and Wear OS
The Android app, with an ongoing workout notification in place of the Live Activity, is in closed testing on Google Play. Its Wear OS companion is awaiting Google's review. Neither is public yet.
