Moving your workout history into Ischys
Last updated: 13 October 2026
If your current tracker can export a CSV with one row per set, Ischys can usually read it. The import shows a preview first, so nothing is added until you confirm.
Steps
- Export your history from your current app as a CSV file and save it to the Files app on your iPhone.
- In Ischys, open Settings and tap Import workout.
- Tap Browse files and choose the CSV.
- Check the preview. It shows how many workouts, exercises and sets were found, the first workouts in the file, and how many rows will be skipped.
- If the file does not say whether weights are in kilograms or pounds, choose the unit.
- Confirm the import. Afterwards Ischys offers to save the workout names it found as routines, built from the most recent session of each.
What gets imported
- Every set with its weight and reps.
- Workout names, dates and how exercises were grouped.
- Set types: warm-up, drop set and failure.
- Effort (RPE), when the file has it.
Rows with no exercise name are skipped, and the preview counts them before you confirm. Ischys is strength-only: distance and duration columns are not read. Importing the same file twice does not duplicate workouts that are already stored.
The columns Ischys reads
The file needs one row per set. Column names are matched without regard to capitals, spaces or punctuation, so Exercise Name, exercise_name and exercisename are the same column. Only the exercise column is required.
| Data | Accepted column names |
|---|---|
| Exercise | exercise_title, exercise_name, exercise |
| Workout name | title, workout_name, workout |
| Start | start_time, date, datetime |
| End | end_time, end_date |
| Workout duration | duration, workout_duration, total_duration |
| Weight | weight_kg, weight_kgs, weight_lb, weight_lbs, weight_pounds, or weight (you are asked for the unit) |
| Reps | reps |
| Set type | set_type, with the values warmup, dropset or failure; anything else is a normal set |
| Superset | superset_id, superset |
| Effort | rpe |
Dates can be written like 10 Jul 2026, 09:00 or 2024-07-26 14:11:23. They are read as local time, so a workout keeps the date your old app showed.
If the file does not import
Open an issue at github.com/ischys-app/Ischys/issues and paste the header row of the file (the first line, with no personal data). Support for more formats is on the roadmap, and real headers are what make that possible.
Getting your data back out
Settings, then Export data, gives you your whole workout history as CSV or JSON whenever you like. Ischys can import either file again; the JSON also keeps exercise notes. Routines, body measurements and settings are not in the export, and the CSV uses the column names in the table above.
